Weddings & special events

The venue, the setting and the moment — from a new perspective

Aerial coverage adds a sense of place to a wedding or event: the venue in its landscape, the full scale of an outdoor gathering, the arrival or send-off. SiouxSky works alongside your photographer, videographer and planner so aerial moments are planned in advance and never get in the way of the day.

The challenge

Why clients ask for weddings & events

  • Ground coverage misses the setting

A beautiful rural venue, lakeside location or farm wedding loses its scale in ground-level photos.

  • Drone shots can be disruptive

An unplanned drone can distract guests and interrupt the ceremony.

  • Event organizers need promotional footage

Festivals, races, fundraisers and community events need aerial content for next year's promotion.

Scope & limitations

What this service is — and isn't

  • FAA rules restrict flying over people who aren't part of the operation, so aerial shots are planned around the ceremony and guests rather than directly above them.
  • Indoor flights, flights in high wind or rain, and flights after dark may not be possible.
  • Venue rules, nearby airports and event airspace restrictions can limit or prohibit flights; these are checked before booking.
  • Aerial coverage complements, but does not replace, a primary wedding photographer or videographer.

How it works

How it works: Weddings & Events

  1. 01

    Submit project details

Tell us the location, what you need captured, your timeframe and how the results will be used.

Share the date, venue, timeline and your photographer and planner contacts.

  2. 02

    Receive a scope and quote

You get a written scope listing views, deliverables, schedule assumptions and price — before anything is booked.

The quote lists the planned aerial moments, coverage window and deliverables.

  3. 03

    Confirm schedule and flight feasibility

Airspace, permissions, site access, weather and on-site conditions are reviewed and a flight window is set.

Venue permission, airspace, the run-of-show and a weather backup plan are confirmed.

  4. 04

    Receive the agreed deliverables

Edited, organized files are delivered to the structure agreed in your scope.

Edited aerials and any clips for your videographer are delivered after the event.

Every flight depends on airspace, property-owner and site permissions, weather, site conditions and the regulations that apply at the time. If a flight can't be completed safely and legally, it won't be attempted — and you'll know before the visit.

FAQ

Weddings & Events: common questions

Will the drone be noisy during the ceremony?

Flights are planned around the timeline — typically before guests are seated, during outdoor portraits and at the send-off — so the drone isn't overhead during vows.

What happens if it rains or is too windy?

Aerial coverage depends on conditions on the day. The quote explains what happens if flying isn't safe, so there are no surprises.

Can you fly at any venue?

Not always. Some venues prohibit drones, and some are near airports or in restricted airspace. Venue and airspace are checked before you book.
